Create and Manage Bundles

How to create and manage bundles within Marketplace Management

Selling bundles at discounted prices compared to standalone products is a great way to increase your average order value. Marketplace Management supports bundling products together into their own listing and deducting inventory accordingly. In this article, we will learn how to create individual and variant bundle listings.

Bundle Terminology

  • Bundle - In Marketplace Management, a bundle represents a group of products. A bundle SKU has its own property, image, and listing information but inherits its inventory data and functionality from its component SKUs.
  • Component - A component represents a product that is included in a bundle. A component SKU is what is selected for inventory deduction when a bundle order is placed.

Bundle Listing

There are a couple of ways to create an individual bundle listing (not sold within a variation set):

  1. Create a new bundle listing from the Add product flow in the products workspace:
    1. Select the Bundle product type after clicking Add in the products workspace. Screenshot 2024-08-01 at 11.09.12 AM
    2. From here, you will be prompted to create a new SKU that will act as the bundle parent, or you can choose an existing SKU. You cannot choose a SKU that is a component or a variation parent as the bundle SKU. Screenshot 2024-07-31 at 2.04.46 PM
    3. After setting the bundle SKU, you will be prompted to select components. You can select additional components after this step if needed. Screenshot 2024-07-31 at 2.07.31 PM
    4. After selecting your sales channels, categories and populating your properties and images, you can manage the bundle components and inventory. Screenshot 2024-08-01 at 11.17.21 AM
  2. Convert an existing SKU into a bundle:
    1. Select the SKU you want to turn into a bundle. Navigate to the inventory section and select Set as bundle and add components from the Actions options. Note that once this is done, the SKU will inherit inventory properties from the linked components.  Screenshot 2024-07-25 at 2.57.24 PM
    2. Click Add Components and select the SKUs to be added to the bundle. If a SKU is a variation parent or an existing bundle, it will not appear in the search results. Screenshot 2024-07-25 at 3.03.40 PM
    3. Within the linked component grid, you can manage the quantity in the bundle and remove the item from the bundle. You can also view available quantity (which is the sum across FCs), the cost per item, the highest prioritized FC (which is where the component will be fulfilled from), and the associated fulfillment cost and fee. 4. At the top of the inventory & component section of a bundle, you can view the number of available bundles (based on the component with the lowest quantity value), the number of SKUs included in the bundle, the total bundle cost and fulfillment cost.
      1. The auto-calculation for bundle cost is the sum of each component's cost per item
      2. The auto-calculation for bundle fulfillment cost is the sum of the fulfillment cost for the highest prioritized FC with available quantity for each component
      3. When the auto-calculation settings are on, the value will be read-only. When the settings are off, you can input a custom value. Regardless of how the value is defined, it will be used as the cost values for repricing. Screenshot 2024-07-25 at 3.22.14 PMScreenshot 2024-07-25 at 3.22.18 PMScreenshot 2024-07-31 at 4.11.15 PM

To add a SKU to a bundle, select Add to bundles from the Actions options within the inventory section of a SKU.

Variant Bundle Listing

Variation Bundle creation has moved from the variants section to the inventory section in an effort to make the bundle construction more flexible. Previously when creating variant bundles, they were limited to components that were part of the variation set. With the new method, there are two ways to create bundle listings that are part of a variation set:

  1. Navigate to the inventory section, select the variant SKU you want to turn into a bundle and choose the Set as bundle and add components option. Screenshot 2024-07-25 at 3.39.25 PM
    1. Select the component SKUs. Screenshot 2024-07-25 at 3.44.25 PM
      1. Tip - If a component SKU is part of the same variation set, copy the SKU value from the inventory grid prior to searching for components. Screenshot 2024-07-25 at 3.44.56 PM
      2. Note - you can also select components that are not part of the variation set. See the example below, which includes a variation set of dog leash and collar bundles (of varying sizes). Each bundle is made up of components that are not part of the same variation set. Screenshot 2024-07-25 at 3.47.28 PM
    2. Variant bundles have the same functionality around setting cost and managing linked SKUs as you saw in the individual bundle listing section at the beginning of the article.
  2. You can also create a variant bundle by linking an existing bundle to a variation set. Once the SKU is linked, be sure to define the option value, or add additional options if needed. Screenshot 2024-07-25 at 3.53.56 PMScreenshot 2024-07-25 at 3.55.31 PM

To add a variant to a bundle, select the SKU and choose the Add to bundles option of the Actions menu. From there you can select the bundles.
