We've updated our file import and export functionality to better support channels whose properties have not yet been matched to similar properties (from other channels) and channel level customizations that you explicitly want to set. Previously, you were only able to manage the content of these properties in the app, which wasn’t feasible for working with large sets of SKUs. If there was a property you were expecting to see as a column header from an export or as an available property to map to on import but did not, this has now been addressed! This article will cover the details on how to leverage the new functionality.
Identifying properties that are now supported through a file upload
The first type of property that you can now manage through a file import is called a Channel Override. Channel Overrides are customizations to property values that can be accessed by clicking the pencil icon on the top right of the property field.
The second type of property that you can now manage through a file import is an unmatched channel property. As mentioned above, these properties have not yet been matched to properties representing the same concept from other channels, meaning you’ll have to input similar content for each unmatched property. The way to identify these types of properties is by the absence of the pencil icon on the top right of the field. Here are a couple examples of properties that have not yet been matched to the main version due to differing property formats:
Unmatched (missing pencil icon on top right of field):

Please note that having to input similar content multiple times to channel properties is a short-term problem and we are working on a solution so that properties are consistently grouped together when appropriate!
Importing Channel Specific Properties
When importing content to channel specific properties, simply prepend the channel name to the property name within the column header (ex. TikTok Closure Type). Or if you want the columns to be pre-populated, you can do a product export:
- Select the SKUs you’d like to export from the products workspace, hit the Export button.
- Select “Include channel specific properties”. From here, you can select specific channels you’d like properties for if you’re just focused on updates to a certain channel(s).
- Once the export is complete, any properties associated with the categories of selected SKUs will appear as columns in the file. As mentioned above, channel specific properties will have the channel name prepended to the property name.
When you’re ready to import property values, be sure they meet the requirements of the property type (just like you would in the app). If the property requires a selection from a dropdown list, make sure to input the exact matching value from the available options. To import a file, select the Products content type and upload your file. Columns will be automatically mapped to properties with the same name. Channel specific properties will be made clear by the channel icon shown to the left of the property name. Once you hit Import, the property values will be set on the channel specific properties or channel level overrides, and you're done!
